Last Sunday, I once again bent under the hefty weight of my weakness for spicy food. To satisfy this demon, I went to Tacomania on Kings Highway, a place I had been to a number of times before.

Shortly after entering, I was guided past a nice-looking, larger dining area to a more secluded, simpler area, which I assumed was for VIP customers.

The interior of the dining room is pleasant, but is not exactly color coordinated. The tabletops have a metallic color, while the seats all have green cushioning. The walls are mixed with light-green and pastel-white, with two noticeable murals. The ceiling resembles the same color as the walls with green beams and a white background. All these colors were topped off with multi-colored blades of the fans which spun on the ceiling. It's a very colorful restaurant indeed.

While I ate, I thoroughly enjoyed the catchy background music, while occasionally glancing over at one of the two television sets mounted at opposite corners of the dining area.

Like at all other Mexican restaurants, I received tortilla chips and salsa minutes after being seated. In contrast with other places, I was given an entire pitcher of the delicious salsa and a side bowl to pour at my discretion.

The menu is fairly lengthy, but like usual, I ignored all options and went straight to the back for the cheaper lunch specials which are served from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily. One item stuck out in particular for my spicy craving: the Los Volcanes Combo, a plate that comes with a beef taco, beef burrito, sour cream sauce, refried beans and rice.

After viciously attacking the chips and salsa, my meal arrived. The taco and burrito had a favorable degree of spiciness and I wouldn't have changed anything about either. I especially liked the rice side, which was a tasty combination of rice, corn, peas, carrots and bell peppers. The rice went nicely with the sour cream sauce.

This was as good of a dining experience as any other time I've been to Tacomania. I would love to come back again for more cheap lunch specials. I recommend this place for someone who enjoys spicy food and a good deal.
