Susan's Closest is an event where women can donate slightly used formal gowns to be sold in support for breast cancer research. Dresses of all sizes can be donated to all Porter's Cleaners in the Shreveport-Bossier area; Strandz Hair Design, Highway 157, Haughton; Hers Bridal Shop, 728 Main St., Minden; or Flowers for You located in the Portico Shopping Center, Shreveport before February 20. To donate a dress, attach a note to your dress stating that it is to be donated to Susan's Closet. If you need a donation receipt, you can contact the Northwest Louisiana affiliate.
Donations will not only help fund research for a cure to breast cancer, but the event will also provide local women with mammograms and educational services. Plus, Susan's Closet will help girls who are unable to afford dresses for special events or school dances. Donated dresses will be sold for $25 each, no matter the original cost. All proceeds will benefit the Northwest Louisiana affiliate of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Women have the chance to shop for a good cause and Susan G. Komen will also be providing information to educate girls on how to be proactive about breast health. The event is set to take place February 20, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the gymnasium of First Baptist Church.
